all that matters
Fog settles into the crater of Vesuvio like breath held too long - a wound gone quiet, gray on gray, the mountain’s violence stilled but never gone. This is where the project begins: with a place that has destroyed everything around it and, in the same breath, made the ground beneath it fertile. That contradiction is the subject.
Sometimes what saves us is the same force that could undo us. Its pull is consuming - a closeness that borders on threat, a tenderness that carries weight. Photographed in black and white, the crater becomes less a geological site than a portrait of that duality: the thing we keep returning to, precisely because it could still swallow us whole.
All That Matters is not a document of a volcano. It is an attempt to sit inside the space between rescue and ruin - and to stay there long enough to see what remains.
